La Cruz de Huanacaxtle

We arrived in La Cruz marina on wednesday after spending one night anchored at Punta De Mita. We decided on staying at the marina so we (Justin) could go up the mast and fix our VHF antenna connection, wash the boat and re-provision.

On our first full day we cleaned all the stainless, the life lines, the anchor chain and the entire boat (in and out). It was time to clean out the fridge and any rotten vegies in our lockers, it was nice to clean everything and then take a shower to clean ourselves!!!!

We took the bus in the next day to just outside Puerto Vallarta where Justin went to a Marine store (unheard of in Mexico) and bought some anchore line and a new connector for the VHF antenna (Jim from Escapade dropped our original one in the marine water). Dalia found a shopping mall and did some window shopping....hard to believe but no money was spent! Dalia is on a hunt for some fashion magazines and books (the non-romance kind that are all over the Marinas).

We are mostly hanging out and doing small repairs on the boat. Found a bakery in La Cruz who makes baguettes (not bad) and Dalia's favourite "third world donoughts"!
We are planning to leave on Monday and head south to Bahia de Chamela after we head into Bucerias for some fresh food provisioning.

Sunday night we checked the weather for rounding Cabo Corrientes and the forecast was big winds and big waves all day and night for Monday and Tuesday. Thus we can only leave La Cruz today, Wednesday. On Monday we did some work on the boat (wax the stainless) and took the dinghy to Piedra Blanca since the guide book said there was good snorkling. Unfortunately the visibility was poor and we returned to the marina.

On Tuesday we started the day with some amazing sourdough english muffins from Summer Wind, followed by scrubbing the hull of Steady Beat and then we took the bus to Bucerias for some fun beach time!

Steady Beat is leaving La Cruz today around 2pm and expect to pass Cabo Corrientes at around 8-10 pm and arrive in Chamela before sunset tomorrow.
